Timber's Nickel Swallowing

In August, 2008, our little baby boy found a nickel in Hobby Lobby. He asked Mom if he could keep it and she said, "Yes, but put it in your pocket." Instead, he put it in his mouth. Mom and all of the kids decided to go next door to eat a quick bite of dinner. While using the bathroom, Timber stuck the nickel in his mouth and inhaled it! He came out of the bathroom screaming! He said he had swallowed the nickel! Mom was so scared, she loaded the kids all in the car and drove quickly to the emergency room. The nurses and doctors said that he had probably already started to digest the nickel and that it surely was not stuck. After the x-ray, we saw that the nickel was stuck! Timber went in for surgery to have it removed and they could not pull it out. They instead moved it into his esophagus and pushed it into his stomach. We were relieved! Until, 11 days later, Timber was running a high fever - 104 degrees! We then, rushed him to the emergency room to find that the nickel was stuck in the opening to his stomach and that it was causing an infection. They took Timber back for surgery #2! They did remove the nickel and over $18,000 in medical bills later... he is all better! WHAT A SCARE!

Our Family Story

It all started with a kiss!! And, that is the truth. Andy and Mistie met in 1995, after Mistie had decided to take a break from college and visit mom and dad in Wyoming. One date, one kiss, one week later ... a marriage proposal. That was all it took and 13 years later, here we are 3 great kids, a nice home, fantastic careers, and a lot of good times, memories, and of course laughs. We LOVE it!!!
